Anybody know how the top 'helpful' reviews are chosen?

The reviews that have the most "thumbs up" from other users are considered the most helpful.

I always change it to "newest" and "This device only" so I know whether or not the latest version is good or not and whether or not it actually works on my device. "The top helpful" posts usually aren't very helpful, IMO.

I've had an abundance of other people give my review(s) a thumbs up and still my comment was not at the top. This is why I am confused.

I have been wondering about these reviews. I look at games with 4.5 stars, then go to show all reviews and more then enough are 1 and 2 stars to drag the average down......maybe I don't understand how it works. I assumed it was adding them all up and dividing by the number of reviews for the average.

Or maybe I have some strange filter on...

i always thought it was just the number of thumbs up too....
i am sure some game devs know what the algorithm is /.
