Google Play services error: Account Action Required

Hi all,

I have done some research on this issue as similar threads do exist both here and in other forums, but I have not seen a resolution to this problem yet so I'm hoping fresh eyes can help.

Phone: Droid MAXX
System version: 19.5.3.obake-maxx_verizon.Verizon.en.US
Android version: 4.4

I have found that recently (I'd say in the past 2 months, give or take), whenever my phone goes out of service it begins harassing me with an "Account Action Required" popup and notification. The notification is initiated by Google Play services and is extremely invasive (I can close it for a second, but trying to perform other activities on the phone is impossible as it continues popping up).

Upon clicking the notification I am presented with a screen titled "Couldn't sign in" and a message of "You typed an incorrect password or your account has changed..." I'm presented with two options: Try again or Cancel. If I select Try again I am prompted for my Google password. If the phone is in service it then takes me to a web-based login to perform a two-step verification process. If I enter my password and code I'm able to log in. If I'm out of service obviously I can't do this.

While this can be resolved by logging in and authenticating once I'm back in service, it is extremely invasive and frustrating to have to do this every day.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on why this is occurring, and how I can get it resolved?

Thanks.

Hi corm, and welcome to Android Forums :)

Have you tried removing and re-adding your Google account on your phone? You can do that under Settings > Accounts > Google > you@gmail.com > Menu (three-dots) > Remove account. That may be enough to kick your account back into sync.

Good luck!

I am having the same issue I have disabled all sync activity and am still recieving the error. I have deleted and readded my Google account. I have no service where I am currently but the second I enter a place with service I quit receiving the notifications. It is EXTREMELY annoying to be in the middle of a video and be interrupted to re-authenticate.

Hi,
(Note: I have a Samsung Galaxy s5, but that isn't linked to this problem. )
I have a similar problem. I get the same error message popping up all the time from Google Play. The difference is that it does not recognize my password. I even changed my password twice & it won't recognize the password. It is coming from 1 of my 6 accounts - the one mainly connected to my phone. I read other forums where others had this same problem. I've tried there fixes & still I'm hassled by this almost continuous problem. Getting to a Web page is crazy. I have to close the error message & then press something on my Google Search page or another page before the error pops up & blocks me. My hand eye coordination is extremely fast now. :)
This problem is not just Android, but seems to hit Android users mostly. It carries over to people's computer & other devices, but seems to start on their phone, tablets or even an "i" operating system devices. It hasn't hit a mac that I know of so far.
Some people blame the putting together our google+ with Google, or some other thing that Google has started. It doesn't look like a device, but it mainly seems to be hitting lots of Android OS.
Help me please. I'm going crazy because of this error message popping up all the time & in the middle of things.
P.S. I am using wifi & have not lost service. That's the biggest difference between me & the others. But please help me. I've tried several things & nothing so far helps.

I have the S5 and it is doing the same thing now. Was anybody able to get this fixed and if so how? Any and all help is greatly appreciated:)

Thank you!

-C

Had this problem. Annoyed me and couldn't find an exact fix blaa. No one just knew. Experimented on my own and found a way. Seemed kinda cruel to leave it at that, as not many people seem to have an idea. So made an account just now for this. Being a member of android forum is handy but most likely this will be my first and only post. :p :p

-Had changed my gmail pass for some reason and this crazy mother started spamming me. Found out that the thing I needed to do is to update my new password ALONG with my gmail adress. (Didn't change, simply rewriteted.)

So you open chrome and click (touch) on that three dots. Click on "Settings" then your account there (Your e-mail adress). It's at the top. You then touch on "Add account for "-your adress-" and then you simply re-enter your gmail adress there. Well... 'tleast, that's how it worked for me. The moment I did this I was free from the annoyance. Hope this works on you guys aswell. =)

thanks Cagatay. I have the same problem as you, but unfortunately when i try your fix and add my email address, it says: there is an account with this email.. and i can't still sync :S

Simply in the last place where I left up; "settings / add account" click on the three dots and click on "Find my account" there. Enter your phone number and click on next. There write your First and Last name as requested. Proceed and find your e-mail there. Click on it and you are done.) Hope it helps. =)

This has been my second post. o.o I'm proved wrong in just a few hours. :P

Go to notification , apps, Google play services, and disable all notifications. Then you can re enable them if you want. Seemed to work for me... at least for now.
