Google Play store removing old phone.

Hi all,

I had the HTC One MAX and just got the S6 Edge. I thought it would be a lot easier to reinstall my apps via the webpage for typing in names, but when I go to install something it says it's already installed. That's because it is thinking about the app still being installed on my old phone, which I kept.

Is there anyway to have the Play Store ignore which apps are installed on my old phone?

Thanks in advance,
Crodley

On the Play Store website, go to your settings and change the default device from your old phone to the new one.

It has a record of the phones you've used and knows how to manage and differentiate them.

After you change the default, it'll behave properly.

Alternatively -

I haven't tried it in a while, but it used to be that the popup that said it was already installed let you change it as you went along - I don't recall, maybe you have to set no default device for that. Between my memory and Google shifting things you'll need to play with that to be sure.
