Google play store stuck at downloading

techack

Newbie
Hi,

I have downloaded the latest play store APK off the internet but while updating the apps it gets stuck at "Downloading".

I tried uninstalling the update from Settings->Apps but then the Play store won't start at all...so installed the latest APK again.

Already tried a few solutions found on the internet but none of them worked.

Please suggest a solution.

Hi techack.
Try either of the following:
1. Go to Settings->Device Usage. Look for and choose "Media" and make sure "Restrict background data is unchecked.
If that doesn't work then...
2. Go to Settings->Accounts and remove your Google account. Once removed re-enter it. This might work.
Hope one of these work for you.

When this happens to me, I do a search of anything while the little wheel is spinning. Then, before it can finish, the menu button will appear in the top left corner. Press it and then navigate to your apps or wherever you need to get to.

I had a similar issue with my GNex this weekend. I cleared clear data & cache on Downloads Manager (Settings | Apps | All | Downloads Manager) and restarted the phone. I had ~40 apps stuck to update, but finally after an hour or so everything was up to date.

I have had this happen on my N7's too.

Are you trying over wifi? If it does work over wifi it's more than likely your carrier data is wrong. You can check ring your provider and they can sort his for you.

I cleared clear data & cache on Downloads Manager (Settings | Apps | All | Downloads Manager) and restarted the phone.

Thank you so so much! I've had this problem for weeks: I had to reboot multiple times before downloads/installations would succeed. After clearing the Download Manager's data and cache, normal install functionality was restored.

Hi,
I bought Ascend P7 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. I had the problem cannot start the Play Store, keep received message "Unfortunately, Play Store had stopped". Can someone advised me how to uninstall and re-install the Play Store. I reset the phone to factory setting, yet the similar issue come up.

It happens mostly.. when u buy new phone.. or when u format your mobile..
Dont worry.. whenever you format your mobile or its new enter google play once.. try 1 download.. let it stuck in downloading.. then reboot your mobile.. go to that download again.. and let the page fully load.. it will take 30sec-1 min max to max.. and your download will start...

Thank you for this post. This was exactly what was happening on my Galaxy Tab S today, and until I read your post I had completely exhausted my bag of troubleshooting tricks. Thanks so much!
