Google Play

I made a stupid mistake this morning when I was trying to fix something, and now instead of google play I have the android market back, which of course doesn't work. I was hoping it would auto update itself again, but so far it hasn't. How can I update back to Play?
Thanks

Menu>Settings>Applications>Storage use and clear data from the (Google Play) Android market application.

Thanks, but have already checked that, the google play app definately isn't there, and the market apps cache is already empty.

Maybe splitting hairs and not to insult, but did you look for Play Store icon in apps section. It is only labeled Google play in the manage app listing, the icon will be "Play Store" easy to skip if your locked into looking for Google Play.

I am looking for "Play store" it was there before, but it disappeared this morning. It was still under manage app settings but not in the icons, and I can't open it from there obviously. I decided to uninstall update thinking it would reupdate itself fairly quickly as the old market used to (used to unistall updates on that as it was slow on my phone) but it went back to market and has so far stayed there. After clearing the data as suggested above the market icon is now gone as well, although market is still available in the manage apps section.

Would my best bet be to find an apk of the play store to install?

It might, but you should be careful- I've heard that there are fake Android Market/Play apps out there that can steal your information. Just as a last resort, though, did you try "uninstall updates"? It might help if it was an update that caused the problem. Can you tell us what happened that made it go wrong?

It seemed to go wrong when I installed the pirates of the carribean game update (a horrible update that is so glitchy it doesn't actually work), it sounds so stupid that it must be a coincidence, but I know the play store app was there before I installed that update as I used it to get the update, then I played around with pirates, trying to get it to work, then I went to go to the play store to place a new review on it and play store was gone (the icon at least, it was still in manage apps at that time) I decided to click uninstall update on play store, hoping that when it reupdated itself fairly quick as the old market used to the icon would reappear. That was my main mistake I suppose lol.

I was worried about that with the apks, I will have to look into it carefully. In the meantime I will keep hoping that market updates back to play store and the icon comes back.

I know this was mentioned earlier, but be very careful when getting an apk for Play / Market as it has permissions to almost everything, so if it is a fake or altered to be malware, it can dig deep.

You said that you have the Android Market App back. Did you try to access it to see if it would update to Google Play?

ndex, I did but it wouldn't do anything, but as mentioned above did eventually update itself, just a matter of waiting I guess. Thanks everyone :)
