Google Search Bar on Screen

A Google Search Box shows across on the screen by default. I try to remove it. After I disabled Google (Search), Google Search stop working but a white bar is still shows on screen. Is there a way to remove it? I don't want it on my wallpaper. thanks.

You don't say what phone you have, but it's presumably a feature of your phone's stock launcher. If you have a Pixel or an Android One phone Google think you want a search widget on your home screen and give you no option to remove it. Other manufacturers may or may not do this.

The solution, as @ocnbrze says, is to use a different launcher. I also use Nova, but there are many others so find one you like.

I can't stand anything on my wallpaper! I find it super-presumptuous of Google to place a non-removable search bar on people's screens.

Anyway, as others have said, using a different launcher will get rid of it. Here's my screen:

I use ADW Launcher 2, but there are many to choose from. I'd suggest trying a few, really exploring their features, and then pick the one you like best.

I only use paid apps, but free versions generally give you an idea of what they're capable of, then you can buy the one you like best to get all its features.

I've never seen that myself, not with any phone I've had. Would this be with Google's own Nexus and Pixel series devices, as well as Android One phones? After all Google's main business is still Search, and more important than providing pretty pictures. :D

My knowledge is based on comments I've read, in this thread and elsewhere, such as @Hadron's "If you have a Pixel or an Android One phone Google think you want a search widget on your home screen and give you no option to remove it."

It's been so long since I used a stock launcher, I honestly can't say whether any of my devices behaved that way out of the box!

Well, shame on them! Pretty pictures are a necessity as far as I'm concerned. :D

I can't say how common it is with non-Google launchers. I know Samsung don't do it, likewise at least some of the Chinese models. Others you see a search bar in the default launcher but don't know whether it's the traditional removable one or a Google-style "we know what you want better than you do" (they really do want to be Apple, despite their protests).

It's not a big deal as stock launchers are always inflexible, limited rubbish so I never bother with them, and hence don't care what bad ideas they include. Personally I've never seen the point of a search bar anyway: every browser lets you enter search queries directly anyway (to a search engine of your choice), so I see no advantage to a bar on the home page.
