Google Search Bar - Using Chrome or Int. Exp?

I'm using Nova Launcher and I've enabled the google search bar at the top of the screen. Is this search bar running off of chrome or Internet Explorer? If it is running off IE, how can change it to operate using Chrome?
 
Internet Explorer for Android doesn't exist. That's a Windows program. If you mean the Samsung internet app, that's different. Also the Google search app is it's own separate app. It's neither Chrome nor the Samsung Internet app.
 
Yeah search will throw up some results and links, if you tap a link, it will ask which browser you want to use or use the default :thumbup:
