Have you tried deleting it from pc instead?
I tried deleting from my tablet, does the same thing.

I have come across the same issue with clearing my Google history on my HTC Desire 620 mobile. I'll try 're-installing the Google app and see if I can still clear my history as normal by pressing on the previous Google searches and then deleting. But I have noticed when the delete box comes up that the Google search I did is highlighted in bold black lettering, but cannot be sure if it has always been this way or just a new thing Google have introduced suddenly without warning.

If you go from chrome on pc and select history it will come up with something like :\\history.chrome and you can clear it frome there, if that doesn't work time to look for other ways
