google skymap reversed compass ?

I just installed google sky map and started it up all excited and I just don't get it. I have searched this forum and done google searches and no-one seems to have my issue so I think its something I am not getting but I cant see what it is.

I fire up the app and it looks good.. but... the map on the screen goes in the opposite direction. As I rotate left the stars on the screen move left and as I rotate right the move right. up and down movements are fine.

When I point north or south it is correct but as I rotate the horizon says east when I point it west and west when I point it east. ?

I have recalibrated my compass.. When I run the compass app it works correctly.. even google maps in street view works correctly. It is only google sky map that seems to have reversed east and west.

Has anyone else seen this ?
Is it just me being dumb ?

btw.. Hi all.. Im new to this forum.. I have recently bought a Motorola Dext and Im loving it :)

Yes i have tried uninstall/reinstalling and rebooting. It is very odd. Switching between the compass app and skymap show east/west are reversed.
 
What compass are you talking about?
I thought we had the same problem but we don't. Mine is off by 90 degrees all the way around. pointing the phone south shows West. West shows North, etc.
I turned off location by towers and wifi (left on GPS for location) and it lined right up perfect. But I don't want to leave it at that setting because there are a lot of times that when I'm not in a GPS signal that I still want it to recognize my aproximate location.
Is there any app that let's you know for sure what the phone is seeing when pointed in a certain direction. The Wikitude one seemed to work. South type wikis were south. at the same time skymap was incorrect.
 
Hi. What fixed it for me was when i did a software update. Turned out there were two updates available and it works fine now.
