Help Google SMS not working (text to 46645)

I'm sure most know about the handy search by sending a text to google. You can send a text to 46645 (or 466453) with something like like a business name and city and nearly instantaneously you get a text reply from Google with the full contact details.

Unfortunately this does not work on my Tbolt. I use Google voice but not for text messages, I also use Handcent. I simply do not get a reply, nothing. Also tried the standard messaging app.

Verizon support has elevated this issue with Google directly. They also claim other Tbolts users are having the same problem. Perhaps it is just that no one uses this.

My swapped phone has a much improved power performance. However, the problem is still present. VZW initially said it was a Tbolt issue. Later said it was a google@VZW issue and now are saying it is a google only issue. What a freaking run around I'm getting. Any help appreciated!

why not just use a browser search? just as easy....

Whats the point of this? The phone has a web browser and google maps. Put the business name and zip in either one and get the same results....

I've got a Desire through Alltel & I'm having the same issues which have just recently started.
Yeah, I know I got a browser & maps, but it's just so much easier to have "46645" programmed into my contacts & use it.
