Hello all.
Every few minutes I hear a notification sound, and the message "Google Talk authentication failed" appears in the status bar. Clicking on it gives the message "Google Talk failed to log in. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that Chat service is enabled for this account."
I have tried turning chat on and off in my google mail account settings, I've tried clearing the data from google play and framework services and restarting my phone. I've found "Talk" in settings>applications, but the "clear data" and "force stop" buttons cannot be clicked (they are greyed-out). Apparently the app cannot be uninstalled, as it came with the phone (a so-called system app). I have also read that this problem can be fixed within the Talk app itself, but of course, I can't log in to Talk and so this is not much use.
My phone is an HTC Wildfire S, running Android v.2.3.5 and HTC Sense v.2.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
