Google Unveils New Android 3.0

hmmm I wonder if this'll be developed in conjunction with the phone version... Google must've really wanted to obliterate the iPad

It's from Youtube. It looks like a themed chrome OS video. I mean, it could be legit, but I'm doubting it for now.

Until this officially comes from Google.

Apparently Google's Android team leaked the video themselves on YouTube by mistake, realized what they had done, and made it private.

One thing I know for sure...I have a Cr-48 and that video isn't Chrome OS :p

I don't doubt it, just trying to temper my expectations. Because of what Google wanted with Tablets (and how sternly they cautioned OEMs from making tablets with 2.2), I kind of had an idea that they wanted to do a temporary split in the OS before eventually merging it into one scalable OS.

So if this does end up being 3.0 and tablet exclusive, you can pretty much expect that between 3.1 and 4.0, the OS will be merged and scalable to run on anything from a low end phone to a high end tablet, with varying levels of features enabled.

WHO WATCHED THE MOTO PRESS CONFERENCE?! OMG it looks good! they said the XOOM is always up-datable so I assume it's like a Nexus.
They might merge, though I heard a separate team was working on Honeycomb ages before Gingerbread came out (no idea where)
it is tablet exclusive according to Motorola, they didn't reveal that much though. They said Honeycomb will be available Q1, but it's not finished and isn't ready to give to people for them to take a look at at their conference :'(

the 3G XOOM is coming Q1 for AT&T, the 4G version in Q2, but the 3G version will be upgradable to 4G... no idea how. I don't think he mentioned a Wi-Fi only version I assume Honeycomb and the XOOM will come out at roughly the same time like Gingerbread and the Nexus S.
I think the XOOM will be coming out roughly the same time in Europe because Motorola just put it on the UK website, but he didn't mention other countries apart from the US :(
whenever it is, I can't wait!

whoops sorry! was it Verizon? probably, my bad. it's 2 in the morning here, you understand, not working efficiently :)

According to engadget Google shows off Android 3.0, the 'Entirely for Tablet' Honeycomb (video) -- Engadget.. android 3.0 will be exclusively for tablet devices.. sort of confusing because it leaves a big grey area for the future of android powered cell phones.. will they jump to 3.1 ? also a couple of phones featuring a dual core processor have just been announced (interesting).. and a 4G htc phone that looks very similar to the evo is being released on at&t and will be featuring the new htc sense! hopefully we get it soon

I read 3.0 will be for tablets, 2.4 will be for phones. Sounds like it will cause a lot of confusion.
