Help Google virus pop-up

Hello,
I was watching some television series on my phone and I mis-clicked a link. Then a virus pop up came out saying my device was infected with a virus and I had to download an app to counter the virus. I then installed the application from google play-store, it turned out to be an app helping the phone to control the temperature of the cellphone (so it won't get hot ). It has nothing to do with countering viruses, so I deleted it. Then I was pretty scared so I downloaded some anti-virus and scanned my device and let them scan my phone, the result were good, there were no virus. I am still worried since I clicked on install the application (The one that controls the temperature of the phone), even though I deleted it, I am still anxious and worried if the hackers and folks hacked my phone and steal my information and privacy :(. Can anyone tell me if I am in danger of being hacked even after deleting the application they asked me to download ? Here is a picture of what the pop-up looked like, I do not own the picture since I haven't taken any picture at the time the virus notification pop-up.

It looked like this but instead of "YOUR PHONE HAS (13) SERIOUS VIRUS". Mine was "Your P9 has being infected, download this application to stop the virus". Instead of "Now shield all the viruses" the one I got was " Download this app", when I clicked on downloading the app, it took me to google play store and I downloaded it.
Thank you some much for reading this, thank you for your time and please leave a reply if you have some suggestion. Please tell me if I am in danger of being hacked and if my privacy is at risk even after deleting the application they requested me to download.

Never install anything because a pop-up tells you to.
There's a good chance that it wasn't really on the Play store but a fake made to look like it. Do you have the option to install apps from unknown sources checked? If you do that can open the door for things like this to get installed on your device.
If you are really concerned about a possible infection then do a factory reset after backing up your important data.
 
Sadly the methods remain the same and are more and more effective. Bottom line, SMARTPHONES Have made some people DUMBER.
ANY site can easily tell what your phone model is. Your usage/search history is most likely tracked and stored.
Therefore the pop ups are using information to catch your eye, appearing like actual windows, and of course praying on the fact that your worried of viruses.
It's Phishing in a way and most do spread viruses although you may open it thinking it will fix a virus that ISN'T THERE.
Sorry I'm not meaning to be an ass. And wow I haven't been here in years since when i was a Guide...random.

How weird, I got that message today while reading Google Now news stories today! It would only close through recent apps, which was the only way to get rid of it. I rebooted and scanned my phone with Lookout, but nothing was found. Adaway was running and up to date too! Weird, just weird!

Did you scan for adware with AdAway? The second I see an ad I'm exited and updating hosts.

Haha, I didn't even know you could do that with Adaway until you mentioned it! I just did it and only apps I know about - GasBuddy, Textra, and Speedtest were found. As I said, Lookout didn't find anything.
 
Because it is not truly from google as i said...just clear your history cookies etc and carry on :)

Maybe I wasn't clear enough but that popup is made to trick you into the anxiety your feeling now. Google would not deploy such tactics. Breathe easy my friend.


If rooted adding one line to your hosts file can help without the need for ad blocking software, not fully but it helps..actually adaway simply loads tons of known IPs to your hosts.
 
I'm blown away that not one person seems to realize it's 100% a mixture of pop-ups with some phishing deployment in its matter of falsifying the appearance of Google. I try to enjoy humble.
