Google Voice and Wave Invites and Requests

Quick question, where do you get invites? I have GV, thanks to a generous AF member. However, I really haven't explored the online portion much. Does every new member get a certain number of invites (like Wave)?

No, you have to wait for Google to grant invites to you. New members start off with zero invites. I still haven't gotten any to give out yet.

What does Google Voice do?

Google voice allows you to have a phone number that can go anywhere to any phone. It also has a lot of features in the web control panel that you just can't get anywhere else.

Check out some of the features:

The down side is you have to get all your friends and family using your new GV number and not your Verizon cell number. It can be a pain but in the long run it can be worth it for some. For me, I have a company phone that they pay for. I have my GV service tied right in with my work cell so I can get calls and SMS for both numbers and send through both numbers. To everyone else its two different numbers but for me its all in one phone. I no longer need to carry a second personal phone. If I ever leave my company I just forward my GV number to my new cell or even my house phone.

Thanks. I guess I really don't see much a need for it.

Do people search threads before posting?

I created a thread about a month ago and its now multiple pages long.

I guess people start their own because they figure its easier to get an invite that way.

I have an undisclosed amount of invites that i'd give if people search before posting new threads on the same topic.

I posted on the other thread a while back no one seemed to have any. If you could send me an invite civicsisedan that would be amazing Thanks in advance joker140@gmail.com

this would be very helpful for anyone who does alot calling with their phones.

you can have your home, office, and cell phone all ring on all your phones. this way you can just hand out 1 phone number to everyone and no matter where you are you can answer them.

you can use SMS through this line instead of spending money on a SMS plan for your phone.

you get cheaper international calling

voicemail:
have you ever had a hard time hearing the person? maybe this would help with that? or if you just need it on louder speakers then you can download the voicemail to your computer through email and play it from there.

voicemail transcription: read your voicemail in email format.
copy and paste spoken phone numbers into your phone to call people back or create/edit contacts.

all that being said, and im sure i missed some very cool features.
i dont have a use for it, LOL
