Google voice goofy message transcriptions

I don't think my friends have such bad pronunciation or bad reception, but the Google Voice transcription of their messages is comical - almost like reading a foreign language. Is this everyone's experience? Is there any way to "train" the transcription to improve?

Depends on the caller. Some are transcribed better than others. Some speak more clearly than others.

In my experience, voice recognition software in general has a long, long way to go. You can train a software program to recognize your particular speech, but that doesn't mean it will recognize everyone's. I work with some docs who use transcription software and I've watched them use it. It recognizes everything they say with virtually no issues. I have used it (under their profiles) when I've been testing it and it won't recognize half of what I say. We can both say the same thing and when I say it it'll be gibberish.

I mostly agree.

GV transcription still needs work.

As long as it doesn't contain any personal info, I send mangled transcripts for them to use to help improve the system...
