Google Voice Messaging

Hey guys been here about a month and most of my questions have been about Google Voice.

Basically i want to be able to receive all my texts and send, free with Google Voice over Wifi and 3G/4G LTE.

To do this i send my texts currently with the Google Voice app.

I was wondering if you could use the stock messenger to send/receive, even start messages and still have them send via GV#, because whenever i receive messages like that i receive them with the forwarding number (406) area code, which is rather annoying.

I just wanted to see if that didn't work, if i could use apps like handcent to send/receive/create messages that all show up as my GV#

Thanks guys :D

Have you checked your bill? You may still be getting charged for them to get to your phone I was until I turned off the forwarding from google voice to my phone. Then as far as I know the only option is to read them in the google voice app.

I have already turned off text to phone, just because you do get charged, i would like to use a different app for receiving GV messages just because i dont like how a new thread is started every day for people.

Example: I talk to my gf past midnight most nights, causing the thread to refresh randomly on me.

Also i dont like how the notification icon goes away when you just read one persons' text.

Example: One day i received 2 texts at the same time, one from my gf and one from my dad. I look at my gfs text and the notification went away so I had no idea until 6 hours later when my dad called me that i got another text, and when i looked at my inbox, its there, unread, there just isnt a notification.
