Google Voice SMS unread synching

I use google voice on my phone and through the browser on my laptop. It used to be that when I read a message on my laptop it would get rid of the blinking light/notification on my phone, but now I have to read it in both places. However, if I mark it as read on my phone then it is updated on the web browser.

Am I the only one experiencing this or does anyone know how to fix this?

Well, I never noticed if it went out before when I read an SMS or not...but it doesn't now. It does go out as soon as I respond though, just not if I read/mark as read it.
As I said though, I didn't ever pay attention to how it worked before...
