Help Google Voice + Talkatone (or GrooveIP, etc.) + GV Voicemail on phone

So I started using GV Voicemail after giving it a brief spin and ditching it a while back. I had a bit of a hiccup today with it (VM went to VZW VM, but I couldn't access it), but I think I have it set up correctly now.

I've been really curious about GV + VOIP solutions. I followed the sipdroid + PBXes route, but now it looks like the way to go is either GrooveIP or Talkatone, which do almost all of the setting up on their own (versus sipdroid and pbxes). I don't have any real reason that I need to use the setup, but I like to play and I'd like to know how the system works in case I were to get some out of country work out of the blue or to offer advice to associates that travel a lot.

So my question is, is there any kind of interference when you have GV + VOIP set up on your phone and you're also using GV as your voicemail provider for your cell phone number? Is there any special setting that needs to be done, or does it all just work normally on its own?

Thanks!

I use GV + GrooveIP or Talkatone for about 90% of my phone calls. I will occasionally get some echo or a bit of a delay when I use them, but majority of the time they work great. Groove IP works best for me over Wifi and Talkatone usually works better over 4G for me so that is why I use both. Calls over 4G is not something you want to mess with too much if you don't have unlimited data though as it can consume quite a bit.

As far as GV messing up voicemail when using either of these services I have seen none. They more or less route the call to your data connection and it doesn't mess with the voicemail forwarding at all.

Thanks for letting me know there'd be no interference, Damned! I had read what you had written about the two different apps in another thread, and that was one of the main reasons I got interested in them instead of sipdroid + pbxes. I gave Talkatone a try today and it's pretty awesome. I told a client of mine today that I'd help him get it set up on his iPhone before he heads to China in a few weeks.

Does using either of these remove the ability to get calls within Gmail on a desktop /laptop? if so that's a dealbreaker for me.
