Google Voice: Texting via Data?

When I am in an area that does not have Wi-Fi available, GV would not allow me to send a text. It said that there were no Wi-Fi networks available.

Can GV be set to send text via data?

Thank you :)

If your cell data is "on" it should go automatically. "Data" is "data", just needs the internet path to send it. If it's a wifi only tablet, then no, only will go on wifi.

I am using a Droid Razr with a data plan. Data is working because I can pull up a web page.

When I try and send text via GV it says that there is no Wi-Fi connection.

Might be a bug, try uninstalling it and install it again. There is no reason it shouldn't, make sure you have background data enabled.

Okay. I'll try it again later. It seems I've been "playing" with my new toy too much today. The battery is less than 20%. I better give it a chance to recover. :D

Maybe something that VZW has started to keep people from using Google Voice's free texting? VZW does charge a lot for texting. Anyone else that uses VZW and GV?

I just tried it again and it worked. It must have been a network hiccup or just my location and signal strength, the way the wind was blowing, etc... :D
