Google voice?

Does anyone have a link to how to set this up NOT IN VIDEO FORMAT!

I'd like it in prose, so I can print it out and highlight the instructions I need.

I searched here and the first post in the search was something about syncing Outlook! Google usually points to the videos. I can't just save the pertinent parts in a video.

I've read that. I've also read in these forums that you need Sipdroid or something like that. Which is it?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? You only need Sipdroid if you are trying to use GV with VOIP.

+1. Setting up Google Voice involves signing up for an account, specifying your phone(s) to use with GV, downloading the app and specifying the Google account credentials for your GV account.

Sipdroid isn't part of GV.

I do have a GV number. I tried using it on a Nokia, and it didn't work. That's when I read the web pages. I think I want to know the steps of placing a call with Google voice, and what do you do about the phone numbers. I've only got the cell and no other phone. I don't really want voice mail. text and voice I might want. Especially if this works on wifi.

If you have a GV number, I assume you have added your cell phone to your list of phones, right? Double check by going to the GV website on your computer, then go to settings --> phones. Make sure your cell phone is listed.

Download and install the GV app from the Android Market on your phone. Open the app and go to settings --> Making calls. Choose whatever option you want. I have mine set to ask me each time I make a call if I want to use GV or not.

This will use you cell phone minutes as GV is NOT a VOIP solution.

GV not being VOIP is what I thought.
TMO has wifi calling, my phone supports it, and it does work. I haven't been able to try it outside of a TMO area yet.

I go where I have no bars, and no other carrier does, either (see central Utah)
Motels have wifi. Usually good wifi. If TMO wifi calling doesn't work, then I'm hoping GV will.

SIP confused me with Symbian.

See this post in the forum and you will understand the confusion:
