I am really have a difficult time understanding this service. I just got an invite finally and have it all set up. However I am confused regarding the text messaging. At the moment I have texts and voicemails coming to my phone as google voice notifications. Now, my question is are these incoming texts free? And if I reply using the google voice sms app are these outgoing messages free?
All I could find online is that if you have messages come via your email they were free, but then what is the point of the google voice app?

In your Google Voice settings (SETTINGS > VOICEMAIL & SMS), disable the Send a text (SMS) message to: Mobile box.

Now new GV messages will only be sent to your phone through the GV app.

If you leave this box checked, you'll still be dinged by Verizon for those messages.
