Help Google Wallet not working - Is my NFC working?

I have not yet had any luck getting Google Wallet to work. I have been trying in Quick Check store primarily. I must admit that I don't want to be that guy holding up the line as he fumbles with his new toy to try and pay a bill. So it is fair to say that I have not given much time to test the process thoroughly.

It did make me wonder if perhaps there is a way I can at least test my NFC capability in a situation that does not involve the public. Does anyone know of an app or a method to test this functionality on my Nexus 7? I would like to first confirm that there is nothing wrong with my unit before expanding the trouble shooting at the POS.

I welcome any feedback to the Wallet issue and/or the NFC testing issue.

About the only way I can think of to test NFC out without being in public is to try to beam something from your tablet to another Android device outfitted with NFC. If you don't have one, find someone in your area with another device and try beaming a picture or something. Hard part is lining up the NFC sensors of two devices. They're in different places on different devices.

There are a few other things to consider. One is that you just happen to be visiting stores that aren't actually supporting it even though they seem to have everything set-up. You can double check with the Paypass Locator app in the market. If the stores come up as accepting it, you can flag them in app as not actually working. (Although, I don't think it really does much.) Another thing to consider is that sometimes the Wallet app is a bit hit or miss. Sometimes the device just needs a restart. Sometimes the device requires you to call Wallet help and have them walk you through a reset of the whole NFC/Wallet combo on your device. (It isn't easy to figure out on your own and I'd get walked through it your first time.) I've had pretty much all of it happen to me. Yay. Wallet.

Thanks for the advice! I would like to figure out the spot on the Nexus 7 that must be tapped against the Pay device. I am not sure how to initiate the beaming of a file across the NFC channel but i will see if I can work it out.

I have downloaded the paypass locator app to check to see if the quick check was set to accept this payment before attempting the process. I have also reported the store as not working. I asked that lady that works there if anyone uses the payment device and she said yes they do - she did not specify if they use an enabled card or if they use a device.

I will try first find out where on the device the NFC chip is located then i will try and get to the store during an off hour to see if i can try while there is no one waiting in line.

Paid for groceries at shop rite tonight with the Google wallet on the nexus 7! I I just lined up the "U" in the NEXUS logo and it worked great!
