Help Google Wallet?

Cobaltie

Lurker
I tried setting up Google Wallet on my phone (Galaxy Victory). It seems to work fine, but gives me a warning about my device being incompatible. When I click on the link attached to the warning, Google tells me I shouldn't use Wallet on this phone because of security features that were disabled.

Yes, I've rooted my phone to disable some of the stock bloatware, but I'm still running the stock rom it came with otherwise. My question is this: is the security warning put up by Google to scare me, or is there a real security concern using Wallet on my phone now that it's rooted? If there is a real concern, are there ways to make it more secure?

Has anyone else gotten Wallet to work for payment methods like Tap-to-Pay?

Thanks!

(If this belongs in the root subforum, please move, thanks.)

If your phone is rooted, then if you were to lose your phone and not remotely disable google wallet, it is easier for someone to steal your credit card info due to the abilities that root gives you. That warning allows google to remove all liability in case that happens.

I tried to use it at Best Buy but their system said they could not accept contactless payment for my card. I haven't tried elsewhere, making it hard to establish if their system or my card was at fault. I may have to try the credit card instead.

I am not sure about anyone else but I find it more of a hurdle to use Google Wallet than is it to use my actually wallet, which is just located in another pocket of mine. I may play with Google Wallet just to say that I have and whatnot, but as of right now I don't see a need for it.

My problem with Google Wallet is not accepted everywhere like a normal credit card. Only places I know that take it are 7-11 Mc Donnalds (yuck) and CVS and Wallgreens, only thing with wallgreens and CVS is that they still make you sign with a pen after paying with your google wallet which delays the process of using it in the first place.
