Google will not update

Hello again everyone, I have a LG LML212VL Android 8.1.0 smartphone device, that keeps showing that I need to complete an upgrade to the Google app., but there is no such update to be done....
This is frustrating because that app. is housed inside of an icon on the home screen that has many different applications that I use, including a YouTube app., and whenever I see the little orange number on that grouping I assume there is another comment on YouTube, but it is the Google app.that claims to need an update instead.
The problem is that there is no update to be done. I used to see this, and would just open the Google app. then scroll downward, and eventually a little blue bubble would pop up that said 'Update', after clicking this bubble the notification would disappear, but now there is no such bubble anymore. I also, have tried restarting the phone, which will sometimes get rid of the little number, but not always.
Can someone explain to me why the phone keeps telling me to update something that does not have an update available please??
Thanks in advance!!

Go into the play store and look for the update there. Try and update it from there rather than from the pop up.
Alright, I was wrong, that did not work....
After doing this, which did update it, I restarted the phone, but it is still saying it needs an update!!

What is going on here??
Is Android just a piece of trash like everyone says, or what??
I guess if I want a reliable phone that works, I am going to have to go ahead, and shell out the boat payment needed to buy an iPhone....
Not happy about that because I despise buying anything from Apple, due to the extreme overpricing they practice as a company, but I need a phone that works too!!

i don't think android is a piece of trash. my note 10+ ****ing rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think i'm going to upgrade to the z fold 3 when that comes out in a few months.

on that note try rebooting your phone. what play store version are you on now?

Never had this happen but clearing the Google app cache might help, go to: Settings - Apps - App Info - Google - Storage

And clear the cache, then use Google Play to update it again.

That's a folder and you can remove apps from it. Tap and hold the Google app, drag it to the side of your screen and it should then let you place it separately on the home screen.

Android is not trash, but Google IS.

Every time I disable or remove a Google app from my device, it runs better and has better battery life.

The less Google, the better.

Go to settings > apps choose playstore and delete the cache and data, that usually does the trick.
