Google's Consumer Ecosystem != Amazon's

Not Entitled
I've read that part of what Google is trying to accomplish with the N7 is to create their own consumer ecosystem like Amazon has done with the Kindle Fire and Amazon Prime. I'm not sure that's going to work.

With the KF you get Amazon Prime (not sure if access comes with the KF or you have to purchase it separately) and that's huge. As a Prime member (without a KF), their video selection may be less than Netflix but it's not too bad and is streamable. Google will have to come up with something like Prime if they are going to compete. A $25 credit in Play is not the same thing.

I've never bought/rented a movie from Google, nor bought a book or magazine. Amazon is the king at this point and for books, there are enough tools available that I can load purchases on any device I choose. Not sure if that's even possible with Google, so I never tried. Note I don't give these things away, just prefer being able to read on my Nook if I feel like it (the Nook Simple Touch is the best ereader at this time, in my opinion).

They must have thought of this. Will they offer a similar thing as Amazon Prime or do they expect people to rent/purchase videos one at a time?

They expect people to rent/purchase videos one at a time, or subscribe to a streaming video provider like Netflix, which supports open ecosystems. As it stands, loading the Amazon Kindle app onto the Nexus 7 should provide a similar experience to a Kindle Fire, outside of it's instant streaming, and book lending.

Amazon doesn't make money on it's Kindle Fire devices, so it wouldn't suprise me if they at least offer up the streaming video support to generic Android devices like the Nexus 7. I know I won't subscribe to Prime without better support across a variety of devices.

EDIT: I certainly would like to see a subscription format ($XX a year or $X a month for unlimited access), but I'm not sure if we'll see that anytime soon from Google.

I would love for them to do something similar. We use Netflix just for streaming and purchase stuff from Amazon to stream from time to time.
Don't mind the options, but if it could be consolidated I'd be happy.
