You know, from my perspective, it's a stretch for sure. But at the same time, if I lived and breathed Blade Runner and K. Dick in general, I can see how my mind would immediately snap to that.
Still, that doesn't extend to thinking that around the boardroom meeting, everyone was all winks and tongue in cheek and 'Nexus One, we know where we got that from.' I think it's simply agreement that Nexus is a cool word, and even maybe hidden somewhere in someone at Google's mind, he's seen Blade Runner enough that there's a subconscious connection between the words android and nexus. Still, I certainly don't think that any consumer is thinking that this means the phone is somehow endorsed by the Blade Runner universe. It involves way too many steps and leaps, compared to, say, the Verizon Droid. That's an example I can see why LucasArts needed to have its trademark respected. It's a more obvious reference and callback to everyone's memories of Star Wars, and Verizon's handling of the brand could potentially affect LucasArts' brand. Which is the point of laws like these.
