Root Got .621? Want to help others?

Ok, a cut-and-paste of what I posted on RootzWiki, but wanted to see if anyone could try to help some poor bricked people out:

Ok, in an effort to try to fix this, I was wondering if anyone who HAS a working DX with .621 and sbf_flash available do a few things, namely:

sbf_flash -r -d --boot
sbf_flash -r -d --recovery
sbf_flash -r -d --system

while in the DroidX bootloader. This should be safe. However, I don't have the sbf_flash code, so I don't know if it'll ignite your phone, cause your computer to convert into a ColecoVision, or summoning ancient demons from hell.

Next, email the files to droidx@fishysnax.com ... I've gotten somewhere with getting a red M logo to come up for a brief moment, but I think I need a better kernel image to pull it off, hence the 3 downloads via sbf. Oh, and let me know in the email if you rooted the device already.

thank you for this information, hopefully the users who took this OTA can help you, if i still had my DX you can count on me, but unfortunately thats not the case.

i do hope we can get these users some help!

Unfortunetly, I did the 621 update on my wifes phone and couldnt rooted so I decided to sbf without reading first and now have a brick. I also have a droid X and would gladly unroot it, update to 621 just to try and bring my wifes back to life and help others. What exactly is needed to help out? Im a sorta newbie but learn quick. Let me know.

Is it possible to do sbf_flash with a Mac? I'm willing to try to figure it out. I'm on .621

has to be an intel-based chipset on the mac, but yes it is possible. it is easiest with a usb stick booted into linux, but can be done on an intel-based mac or pc, your choice

I have been able to recover my phone from being bricked when I went to .621 and went back a version. Turns out once you're in .621, you're STUCK with .621... at least till someone figures out otherwise.

I got something that may help out someone. the only thing i had done to my phone was root it, no ROMS or Themes. (this round) so when the update popped up I couldnt hit later fast enough. i logged onto Android forums and learned of this magical thing called OTA Root Keeper and that the Sbf file was already out. thats all i needed. so after 4 failed install attempts (defrosted all apps) and a drive over to my parents house to look at my moms DX to see if i had forgotten about some APK i had deleted. they were good. 2 more failed updates. so i was all set to do a factory restore and while looking through the phone to see if i needed to transfer anything to the SD card, i saw my backup Build Prop, and then i wanted to kick my own butt. SO thats my first tip, A stock Build prop. the OTA installed fine. after the phone restarted it was froze, i could sometimes get the slider open but thats was it. i did around 8/9 batt pulls and each time i cleared the cache and the dalvik cache and on the last 2 pulls i left the batt out for 10 min each time. now it seems fine and still rooted. well, that got kinda long. i must have missed this place. And to top it all off. i chatted with a Verizon CS rep last week to see if they would price match Amazon on the driod bionic. Amazon was 50.00 Verizon 100.00. "they dont price match" and since my upgrade is the middle of March i was gonna use a different line that was ready. but i had no clue how to go about that through Amazon, i figured it was easier to what 3 weeks. But whats that i see in my inbox this morning? 100.00 off all 4g phones, this brings the bionics's total to 0.00. and this one time at band camp.. :)
