Got It......It's fast....it's really REALLY fast...

Motorola is developing a phone for CDMA that will hold on to your calls allowing you to use data simultaneously.

CDMA is developing new technology called SDVO... announced back in August 09 but come on man... it's 2nd decade of this millenium and you still can't use data+voice. What a shame

did someone say the trackball has only white light? the conference begs to differ, if the posts in this thread is in fact true, as is the conference, we ARE talking about a different version of the same phone that will be released to consumers.

The trackball doesn't actually have multi colored LED. It's just white. There is a tri-colored LED that is at the top left of the phone, next to the earpiece.

AHHH VERY GOOD QUESTION....

The Gallery does have a VERY VERY cool 3D effect. It looks very much like paper vision. When you open up the gallery, the folders for each set of pictures are spread out as a stack of pictures with the folder name under it. When you select one they all spread out in to columns. When you navigate up down and left and right on those pictures theypush back and forth as one big piece of paper if you can kind of get the idea. The whole thing shifts until you select an image.

It's very very cool.

Conference notes said:
Time for a closer look at the Nexus One and its software. Erick Tseng, senior product manager on the Android team. The specs! 3.7-inch OLED display, HVGA (480 x 800) — deep contrast. 1GHz Snapdragon (“It’s really fast.”). Trackball with multi-color notification LED.

may not have been a miss at all, i said it in another thread, the consumer version is different.

think about it

they got umpteen million reviews for the nexus one out now, creates a good buzz on the web, now the consumer version is different? at least it has more feaures? well we need to review it again then, duplicating the buzz.

Yeah whats up with that ?
How did 3rd geer miss the color trackball ?

I didn't....I don't see that option at all on this and I also downloaded an app that controls it.....called Missed Calls...that didn't do the trick either.

dun dun DUNNNNNNNNNNNN

think of it like this, how many phones have multi color LED's? LOTS shi my old nextel back in the day had it, but the nexus one that was given to employees did not.

so if this is such an old feature, why would the speaker at the conference even mention it? he mentioned it, specifically, to create more buzz and tip everyone off that this consumer version is slightly different...that's why...they new the blogosphere would pick that up right off the bat, and it/we did.

Makes sense!

i love it

Q: “Is the physical keyboard dead? Will Google retail more products [other than phones] in the future?” Peter: People will choose the best fit for them. This one focuses on the screen and onscreen keyboard — for people who like this, this is the best choice for them. Of course, we also have keyboard designs as well for people who are heavy email users.

he might as well of ended that response with a "hi blackberry" and a wave.

What's interesting is the CONSTANT reminder they keep saying....."This is not the only device that is going to be part of the offering.".

Sounds like they are already on to the next one. Damn this thing called technology...At least I'm getting these f-ckers for free haha.

Did you want to PM how I too could get one for free without having to use an incentive site? ;)

Yeh very not cool. They got hammered in the questioning for this tactic.

I REALLY dont like there total avoidance of Iphone comparisons. HTC dude saying"we feel its one of the best phones" ?? Really...just "one" of the best phones after an Iphone question ??

Not filling me with confidence.

im sure they would rather not compare anything to the iphone, doing this would just give the iphone credit it doesnt deserve as teh GOAT

i like this though....

Look who just showed up! Sanjay Jha, The Man at Moto. Jason at Giz: “How are you differentiating ’superphones’ from smartphones? Will the Verizon phone support CDMA and GSM?”
Andy: “The definition, to us, is the evolution of this platform… The industry needed another term to refer to these innovations. We wanted to refer to it by something, and we think superphone is the right way to refer to it.” Oh please. Buzzword. Just say it, Andy, you guys made up a buzzword.

soforreal, c'mon you can't just say "oh this is the new class of phones, superphones"

blow it out your *beep* dude.

Yeah they are definitely tip-toeing around some of the questions.

True...but when you get yours and you show it to people that don't have it...trust me....you'll be calling it a superphone haha.

lol @ super phone.

Avoiding it the way they did could easily be interpreted "yeh iphone is prolly better but this is our phone"
Show some confidence in your device.
