Got It......It's fast....it's really REALLY fast...

Probably a dumb question but can you confirm the color scheme of this phone? I'm beyond confused after that Engadget hands on, the color of the device seemed to change depending on the lighting. So what is it, gold and bronze? black and bronze? charcoal and gold?...etc etc.

It's 2 shades of grey and around the display is black. The grey is really dark like a charcoal almost, and the other is a meduim gray that almost looks like metal.

i know you've stated the snapdragon makes the overall experience of the phone pretty quick despite being on edge, but im stuck on a family plan with at&t and am very interested in this phone, although i stream alot of youtube videos on my current iphone, how bad is it streaming youtube vids over edge on the nexus one? i just want to make sure i wont be waiting 5 minutes to buffer a 2 minute video...

if you're that worried about it, then i would wait for an att android phone. i'm using a g1 on att and can say that there is a huge difference in speed in my location. thankfully for me, i'm around wifi enough for it not to matter too much, but its certainly not the case that 3rd is having where edge is almost as fast as 3g (bolded the key point)

I just played this youtube video (FYI one of my fav groups)
YouTube - Stairway to Heaven live (Rodrigo y Gabriela)

Took about 15-20 seconds to load. Played straight through without any hiccups. I think it's pretty good...Definitely not CRAZY fast, but good enough.

I had to go back and edit this real quick because of something VERY interesting. I started playing this video on my mac and on the phone at the same time. Obviously the mac started right away....but after I finished posting this I went to close the page and notice that with a little over a minute left it didn't finish buffering the entire video....when I looked on my phone it had about 1:30 to go and was finished buffering everything.

Now I KNOW that this phone is not faster then a mac....but maybe that has something to do with the types of video that's being streamed through the youtube mobile app?

Here is the pic. Took it with my iphone so it looks crappy. Sorry...didn't want to bust out the SLR. As you can see none of the char's show up....obviously an Arabic site.
thank you for the effort mate , but the picture is all blurry , anyway , if you say the characters are not visible , i assume they show as cubes all the time. it's a shame. thanks again , and it's in Farsi and not Arabic mate .:D

Ahh...the banners looked like Arabic. Yes just all blocks. Sorry about that man.

The software supports it. The nexus one has multitouch

why is it that no matter how many times I say this, people still dont get it?

Have some respect to other members son..

Thank you for all the information about Nexus One. I might snatch one up if they sell unlocked version for AT&T. Also, I just wanna let you know I donated $50 to show my appreciation. Keep up the good work !

Summerboy, thanks man I really appreciate it!!!

How does the touch sensitivity of the Nexus One compare to that of the iPhone?

I'd say that they are definitely even. The one thing that was surprisingly good is the keyboard. On my UK HTC Hero, it was really easy to type the wrong letters. It just wasn't accurate even after calibrating it. The N1 is pretty precise.

Plain and simple all Android devices are capable of multi touch and all versions of Android after 2.0 have the code in them its just not turned on... And if you don't believe me go to the repo and look for yourself! android.git.kernel.org Git

I'm aware that 2.0 included multitouch, that's not what I meant, I'm just wondering why almost everywhere I go people continue to bitch and moan about a lack of multitouch on the Nexus One where it is clearly not the case. Sure the stock Google applications don't have it, but that's easily solved with an app from the market.

I'm just sick of people bitching and saying there is no multitouch whatsoever on the device.

It's the difference between people who read and contribute to this forum and people who don't even know that things like this forum exist. People on this forum know what an Android phone is capable of and (generally) how to get what they want.

People who don't know about this kind of forum only know what they get out of the box and what their buddies tell them to download from the Market. They can't pinch their screens on stock software like their friends with iPhones can; so they say they don't have multitouch. And you know what? They don't.

All you can do is try to educate them, but you know the old line "there are none so blind as those who will not see."

Ok so odd thing here. I found every area possible to drop the file in my phone...after unmounting and checking around....nada. I can't find the file at all. Any advice on a folder to put it in guys?

Thanks

1. What File browser are you using ? Default ? Android should find any compatible file on an SD card...strange.

Try Astro file manager more file details and easier file management must have for Android regardless of phone.

Let us know if that video plays back. Its MP4..roughly the same bit rate as the video you screenshot....but its HD dimensions. If it cant shoot I do wonder if it can play back.

2.BTW now that you have more apps and more time with it , apps installed ,widgets , stuff in cache etc...wondering if you can run that Home screen experiment.

Open up a few apps ((ex FB , , Txt Msg ))open your browser and surf for few minutes.....then press the HOME key.
How long does it take for Nexus to come back to the home screen with icons and everything drawn back up ?

Thats usually the point all users experience the most lag on any Android phone.

3rd geer, I think you mentioned it charged slower than the iphone, that's because of the higher battery capacity. Did you get any feedback from people you talk to regarding call quality?

I assume you already knew how many bars of reception you had in the places you frequent, have you noticed a change with the N1?
