Got mine yesterday!!

Tmeh

Lurker
And I absolutely love it.

I've lurked these forums for the past 3 weeks waiting until my galaxy s3 arrived but no more, time to join in on the action!

Having owned an iPhone 3G S followed by an iPhone 4S all I can say is mind=blown.
I did start to worry when I was reading about the battery life and such but either these people were flat out lying through their teeth or they just didn't give it a fair chance.

The battery is just a beast. Holding up through at least 8 if not more hours of me tinkering and playing with it...

But anyhow I've been fiddling with it left and right since yesterday, trying to get it set up to how I like it without altering too much of the base software on it, I think the biggest change was Swift Key 3 and Fancy Widgets so I've yet to see everything you can do with it.

Before I got the phone I was considering keeping my iPhone 4S for music/facetime/imessaging but screw that.. I am selling this phone asap.

iPhone or Android, they both have their crowd and I won't say which is better than the other but I do know where I belong from now of on!

The app I love the most atm is probably AirDroid...

And the few things that I'd like to get resolved are..
- Connecting to my PS3 Media server on my computer. Since I use that to stream media to my PS3 aswell.
- Wireless syncing my stuff to the phone apparantly uses Kies, but is there another way (A better way?)
- Pictures I took with my iPhone are tilted sideways on my Galaxy s3, is this the iPhone's fault or not?
- What apps would you reckon are must haves?
And last but not least...
- Any games that are fun? The list on the Google Play is impressive but maybe you guys know some hidden gems ;)

Take care

IMO, people get way to crazy in their expectation of battery life. These phones can do a lot and if you choose to do it all, it's going to use up battery. Get over it. Either find ways to configure your phone to improve battery or, if you're like me and refuse to compromise, get an extended battery. At least you have that option unlike the iPhones. Almost anything would have had better battery life than the 3gs.

Word of advice here and you may very well choose not to give it any merit. When I made the decision to go to my first Android phone, I also made the decision to go totally Google. For you that may mean a decent amount of work initially (as it did me) but if you intend to stay Android for the long term, it may be the way to go. I decided the best way to get my money's worth out of Android was buy into the whole Google Cloud world. I have all my contacts, calendar events and e-mail with Google. I buy my apps from them and as much as possible I even get my music there. You can probably give pros and cons to this but one thing it does do is make it very easy to keep the phone up to date and synced. It also makes switching to a new phone very easy. As the final piece to this, it will also allow you to utilize Google Voice to it's fullest capability. I guess I always just disliked having to piece together this and that to give me everything. Google services provide me with most everything I need as far as keeping track of my life.

I'm waiting on my S3 ordered Wed. paid for priority shipping and it still hasn't shipped. AT&T can't figure out whats going on. Just got off the phone with them and they credited $50 to my bill for my troubles, it's replacing my S2.

Hopefully it will be here Monday.

Why would anyone lie through their teeth about battery life? Everyone here has the phone and wants to enjoy it. It varies from person to person, and is especially dependent on the strength of cell and wifi signals and how the apps are set up. Just be glad yours is doing so well.

That WAS probably a bit extreme although I must admit to arching my eyebrows a tad when people claim to have gotten a couple of days out of it. Whatever. I'm just quite happy to be able to do all I do with mine and get all that I get out of it. Of course, that's with an extended battery but so what. I now have what has to be the closest phone to perfect yet. ;)

Games really depend on what you like, my favorite new game is Rayman Jungle! It is awesome for a handheld device, totally worth the 2.99
