Got my Rezound today! One problem tho...

NTDroid

Lurker
All I can say is I am SO glad to be back with HTC (came from a Facinate)!!!! Went to Best Buy to be able to take a look at the TB and the Rezound side by side and ended up choosing the Rezound. I was able to upgrade 6 days in advance of my renewal date and use my daughter's upgrade...problem is now her phone doesn't work! I looked online at our Verizon account...it shows her number and says "Pending Order"...the guy at Best Buy said she wouldn't have a working phone for 20 minutes...so I am not sure what the deal is. Will call when they open and see if someone can help us get her phone working. Anyone dealt with this before? This is my first time upgrading my phone through a 3rd party vender. By the way...they price matched the phone with Amazon Wireless at $159.99!

So far - all of 6 hours later and after setting up all my apps, better keyboard and handcent -- I am loving the Rezound!!!!

Just call verizon, they should be able to straighten it all out. Ive done similar things in the past, even with my new rezound! I got the phone on a new line, transferred my number to the new line and gave my new number to my wife. If you're grandfathered into unlimited data, keep your number at all costs! Your number should always be attatched to your primary device.

Verizon should be able to take care of you. :)

STOP RIGHT HERE!!!

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get Verizon to switch line service from your daughter's number to your number since it sounds like the boneheads at Best Buy activated the Rezound under HER number. If Verizon tries moving service from your Rezound back to her number, the SIM in your Rezound will be rendered useless and you'll have a dead Rezound. Instead go to the Verizon store in person and just tell them that you want to restore the correct phone number from your daughter's phone back onto her phone and you want to activate the Rezound under your number.

Best way to see if it indeed was the idiots at Best Buy that screwed up the activation process, send a text message to your daughter's number or call your daughter's phone #. I'm guessing it'll ring to voicemail or you'll get the text message. Sounds like a typical Best Buy screw up. I'm surprised they haven't gone under like Circuit City yet.

IF you get Verizon to move service from the Rezound back to your daughter's phone then your Rezound won't work without a BRAND NEW Sim card. Hopefully you'll get a Customer Service rep that will know what they're doing or will notice that you have a 4G device and will let you know what will happen if you continue with your current course of moving service back to your daughter's phone.

Quoting for emphasis. Best buy people are idiots don't trust any of them. I also agree just go to a verizon store.

Same thing happened to me. I bought my phone from Costco a week before my actual upgrade. When it came in the mail I couldn't activate it. I checked on line and it said my number had a transaction pending. I couldn't do anything until feb 22. (at least it was the right number). I took it to the local Costco who said the rep who sold it to me "post dated" the order which caused the problem. He made a call to Verizon to unlock the account, put a new sim card in it and it activated no problem. I do have pink buttons though. :(

Ok..wow I am totally confused. In the store the Best Buy guy used two different Sim cards...one had to be activate on my daughter's line in order for me to use her upgrade and then he activated another sim card for my number and set the phone up on that number. My number is the number attached to my phone. I just want them to turn her phone back on -- connect her cell to her number I guess is what I am saying. Wow I am so lost. Guess this would explain why Verizon was refusing to upgrade my phone 6 days early huh. Sheesh! What a mess!

The only thing I'll stress, don't have them do anything over the phone especially if you're dealing with a 3G device and a 4G device. Have them resolve everything at a Verizon corporate store (with both phones on hand if possible).

And hell, I'd call Best Buy and complain to the manager. Tell them you may not go to them in the future. They may try to offer you a gift card or a discount if you agree to get your next phone through them.

Thanks for the help! It took a few times of explaining the situation and I convinced the Verizon lady not to touch my phone at all. She looked it up in the system and my number is attached to my Rezound and I confirmed it by checking the Phone's idenity as well. No no need for a 3rd SIM card to be done. She simply reattached my daughter's phone number to her phone...now she just needs to do the *228 and option 1 and her phone will work again. I just check my account to confirm that everything has been done just as she said it would be...and now my daughter's phone is attached...she just has to activate it. Now to try and get ahold of her to let her know...sheesh!

lol, Carrier pigeon anyone?!?!

Woohoo! She must have gotten my FB message because she called her dad not long after I sent it and was able to do the *228, Opt. 1 and her phone is working again -- and my remains working!!! What an ordeal but easy enough to fix. If she had a 4G phone it would have been an entirely different story however. I got a Thank you Text from her a short bit later...all is well again
