Got Myself a New Tablet!

Lurker
I got a new Toshiba Thrive for $279. So far... i love it! This beats my iPad by far. In every way except app selection it's just a better tablet.
1) Filesystem
Having a filesystem is a breath of fresh air
2) Sideloading
Great to have, but haven't used it much yet.
3) AVI files playback
Used this a lot - i have a lot of AVI files.
4) SDXC slot
Used this already too and it's awesome. I got the 8GB version but have 60GB+ worth of cards.
5) Browser
Just a better browser, tabs, flash, faster, better ui.
6) Widgets/homescreen Customization
I have my favorite stuff on just 3 screens and it works really well. This is not a key feature though.
7) Google Integration.
The Gmail app and the other Google Apps are super nice and it works with my phone's apps.
8) USB host
Haven't used this yet, plan to get a USB keyboard & mouse for my tablet.

Unless you're really addicted to apple's App Store, i can't see the reason to get an iPad. Even at the normal price of $369 @ Amazon for 16GB, this is just such a better value.

Android ftw in tablets!

Android ftw in tablets!

I am glad to see you are happy with your android tablet, but as Windows 8 is going to be introduced next year, Android won't be the only OS with all the features you mentioned. I guess as a consumer I should be happy to see some healthy competition ahead.

The iPad does have tabs in the browser and is hardware accelerated and for gaming nothing beats the iPad as of yet

I must agree with you that gaming on the iPad is the best, but that's pretty much everything I can do with the iPad. Android browser on Honeycomb also has hardware acceleration and the lack of flash on the iPad means that there are tons of websites I cannot visit, one being YouTube (the number of videos not available on mobile is quite large).

I do agree that not having flash is annoying sometimes but Its rare that I ever really need it but I have yet to come across a YouTube video I couldn't view

Glad you like the Thrive. I got one for my wife a few months back. She loves it. During the last couple of months we have had some storms that have knocked out power for a total of 15 days. Having the Thrive with the changable battery and movies stored on several SD cards helped us get though the nights.
