Got rice stuck

Previously, my baby sister and I were washing the dishes, and my phone fell in the sink after she accidentally hit it. Soo, crying and as quick as I could I took the phone and wiped off water on the outside then took the back cover off and place the phone in the cup, upward. So next I poured the rice in the cup and it quickly filled. After leaving it in the rice cup for an hour I took the phone out and poured the rice back in the container, wen I noticed there was rice in my headphone jack. I shook the phone and some fell out but I noticed a little annoying piece was still in there and after shacking the phone like a madman I gave up. Later on my determination came back and I thought if I push the headphones in, the rice would break and fall out. Sadly I was mistaken and now I look to you guys for answers and solutions.

Wait till the rice dries then use a needle to poke the rice and carefully drag the rice out.

One hour is very little time to dry the phone that way. A couple of days in the rice would be more normal advice.

According to an article I read, silica gel works best in drying a smartphone. If not that, then instant rice works well too.

Yeah, silica gel will certainly be more effective than rice. But most people have some uncooked rice around the house, not many will have a decent amount of silica gel to hand.

You didn't mention the kind of phone you have, but that's not really important (but it may be helpful for us to know). As @Hadron pointed out, an hour is hardly long enough for rice to dry out a phone. Add to the, it should be in a plastic bag or a jar where you can seal it, or it won't really work at all. It will pull more moisture from the air. In any case, let's hope you don't have to do that again.

As to forcing the headphone jack into the phone, best case would be as @today say and let it dry a little and if it is loose enough to rattle then you might be able to get it out with a pin. Worst case is you already damaged the jack and even if you can get the rice out, the headphones won't work. If you didn't push too hard, then you might be okay.
