that will tell you how to create a initlogo.rle (the bootsplash). Getting it on the phone is another job in its own lol. The initlogo is packed in the ramdisk in the boot.img along with the kernel, which is /root on the phone. Unfortunately root isnt accessible from the phone w/o the use of an app.
I change em out in the src for CM7 builds. And I extract the boot.img and swap it out and repack the boot.img on cooked ROMs.
nope , not to my knowlege, I think there is an app that can do it, and you may be able to with adb after remounting /root r/w, but I'm not sure on the cmd or syntax to use :/
I do it with the boot.img, extract it, change out the initlogo.rle and then repack the boot.img and then either add it to a modded stock ROM or make a update.zip just for the boot.img like a kernel update.
i kno this is an old thread, but JUST IN CASE anyone is still facing this problem, i had a similar issue on the Alcatel Venture, and i just came up with a workaround that might put u on the right track. granted, if u r not ldpi, u will have to change the resolutions in my batch file, but worth a shot!
