Got the Max HD on launch day

After getting the DX two years ago for $49 it was hard to let go of $249 for a new phone but spread over two years I guess not too bad considering how much better the phones are from then till now.

I read the review on Engadget this morning and I tend to agree that it may be just a bit too big for one handed work but since I got my wife a Razr M the same time I can also say that it is a bit too small. The size of the S3 (and some other things) is what made me tip to the Max. The S3 has too much additional real estate other than the screen and that phone just can't be done one handed unless you are a NBA player.

I like the phone a lot so far. I haven't done a lot with it other than get it set up with my old apps and getting the calendar set up. I have been very impressed with the UI over what the DX had except I dislike the 4 icons anchored on the bottom. That should be optional IMO. The circles are great. Nice concept but the redundant data from the status bar doesn't make sense to me.

I had a phone conversation lasting over an hour yesterday and afterward I thought to my self how great the phone quality was versus my DX which was also very good. One reason I stay with Motorola is their phones. They are mobile phone people. Always were and hopefully always will be. After all these are phones that do other things not computers that also make phone calls.

The Max is really fast. Pages change quick and actions are crisp. The screen is very clear and brite. I haven't changed the out of box settings yet and it seems just fine. I am sure I will putz with it over the next few weeks to see what is better from a settings stand point and from other posts I read here.

The battery is amazing. I haven't put it to any test yet but I can tell it will be just fne for me. I had the extended battery in my DX but could still drain it with a lot of screen time. This one looks "unkillable".

Is it worth $100 more than the regular HD? Probably. More space, more battery. Over two years. If you don't need it so what. If you do it is there. Can't make a small phone bigger but you can underutilize a bigger phone. That is my view.

Looking forwars to tips and tricks and other observations.
