gps "chime"?

hello peeps,
Hoping someone can help me, tried search but had no luck.
Using google maps navigate, i had a chime sound to let you know of the next turns etc., installed text to speech, but as i use the phone in english, with street names being in dutch, it sounds pretty terrible!!
Any way to get the chime back?

thanx!

I've been wondering for ages what that melodious chime was for! Still don't know. But I don't think it is to warn of next turns, because I get it only rarely, three or four times a day, while I take a hundred turns minimum (in exactly the same circumstances as yours). It seemingly happens at random points in my route. Can't say it's ever happened twice at the same spot.
Maybe it's pulling down new maps and this is the signal that a download has completed...?
That chime is still a mystery to me.

As for that language problem... try telling Google Nav where you want to go in Oxford, England, in UK English, using Google Voice for input. Bring lunch, because GV/GN won't understand you. It only understands white middle class American twang.

As far as I could see it chimed first when you were about 500m from the junction, then a double chime when you were around 150m from the turn. The voice in english reading out names in dutch and french is really annoying.think I'll try to remove text to speech and see if it returns.....

Since there's 3 junctions in every 500 meters of road, in The Netherlands, I can see how that would drive one crazy.

only the turn you are supposed to make!:D
apparently you cant uninstall text to speech, guess i'm stuck with it.....
