Help GPS does not function with google maps

Greetings.. when i first got the phone, it didnt really work at all, and i now have basix installed, and everything else works great, but the gps still does not work.. google maps, nor any other program will pick up a GPS signal

i know other people that have this phone, and even worse android metro phones, and their gps works fantastic..

can anyone suggestion something?
