Help GPS doesn't work in morning

Dabrador

This is strange. The GPS on my Droid will only work in the afternoons. Whenever I try to use Maps or GPS Status in the morning, no signal is obtained. But use it in the afternoon...anywhere from 7 to 9 satellites are found.

After the time stamp issue with the camera, I'm wondering if there's a similar issue with the GPS.

Anyone have suggestions on fixing?

Time of day has nothing to do with GPS though. I don't see a link there. Are you sure you don't have an app (Locale?) that's disabling/interfering with your GPS during the morning hours?

Good question Joe...

I read that there was a possible interference problem with the Weatherbug application so I deleted it. I don't have Locale installed.

As I look down the list of my installed apps, I really don't see what could possibly cause any interference.

This issue has been extremely frustrating. On my two most recent trips, I relied on Maps to get me there. I fired up the Maps and GPS first thing in the morning and nothing...

Where is your phone located in the morning? Are you in a building?
Gps will get a better view of the sats if it is outside.
Download GPS Status and turn on your gps. You can watch it pick up the satellites.
Last night I turned mine on and it took a couple of minutes to get a fix. I don't know why. Maybe a software conflict.

Location and time can indeed effect GPS. I have had to do some data surveys where we had to search for optimal times for a particular location and be there then to get the location specific data needed.

I would go to the closest Verizon store in the morning, say a Saturday if work won't let you during the week. See if they have a Droid there that has the same issue. Do friends have the same issue? I'm thinking something besides the gps because I'm pretty surprised how well my droid gps works. Unless the reciever is faulty or there is some app running intereference.

Thanks for the feedback guys. In an effort to determine the problem, I've reduced the number of variables such as location...that doesn't seem to affect it.

The other thing I've noticed is that it's not consistent...except for one thing. When I really need to use Maps and GPS, it doesn't connect. This morning as I'm sitting at my desk, the GPS connects just fine. But yesterday morning when I was driving and needed a signal, it didn't work.

Any ideas what could be causing the inconsistent signals?

I am in the same boat as you. After praising the DROID gps and using it many times, one day (last month) it didn't work and I didn't have my tomtom with me :-(. Rebooted, took out battery but no use. Then it worked for 3 weeks and suddenly died again. For last 3 days I tried to get it back but it just came back now, I am peeping through a small window in my office desk and GPS signal is solid.

Weired.
