Hi.. am currently located in Singapore and am using Samsung galaxy S. I feel like the google map and feel the GPS is not working at all...

does anybody encounter the same problem? Everytime i check my location.. it always appears your location is currently is not available.

Something wrong with this ??!!

Assuming you've got a clear sight of the sky it would be worth installing GPS Test and see if your phone is detecting any sats.

the problem is i used iphone before.. gps is always working good in iphone.. but since first day i bought samsung.. it always appear the same problem !!

Which Android version are you using?

Seems to be that some users have issues and others don't.

On 2.1 I found GPS to be OK but would have occasional drop of connection. On 2.2 GPS has been far more stable.

Some users have reported that move to 2.2 mae no differenec or made it worse.

Here in UK my SGS locks on to 6+ sats within 20-30 seconds if not used for a while.

GPS Test will at least allow you to see if you are detecting sats

I had same problem trying to get gps signal - it just kept saying trying to find gps when using "maps"- only way round it was to manuallly turn gps off and then on again each time

I always had the same problem with my Galaxy S...last night I downloaded an app called "GPS Doctor" from the market that seems like it helped a lot. I usually run the quick fix thing before I open Maps and it's finding my location a lot faster now. Might be worth a shot?

Toby is right, manually turning GPS off then on and if that fails reset the phone.

There's really no other fix that I know of other than that.

Just joined to say thanks for the tip. GPS on my Vibrant still isn't quite as fast as my wife's G2, but it's much better than it was before (used to take at least a minute, usually more). It actually keeps an accurate lock while I'm driving now too. Overall it was a good purchase!

PS - This was the first paid app I've gotten from the Market. Is there always the 20 minute-or-so wait in between paying and actually being able to download, or is that just for the first time you enter your credit card info? Seems like something Google should look into.
