Help GPS issue solved bad news

Ran a quick speedtest, on my home network, using the Prime and my Droid Charge and the results were about dead even ! Not saying the Charge is some kind of wunderkind, but the results were neck and neck. So far , wifi is not an issue with me. Have been downloading apps and surfing the net with no issues !

Also, just downloaded GPS Tether and will test later and post some results !
My charge does an excellent job with gps !

I'm going to have to disagree with this assessment, as an owner and user of the Transformer Prime. Watching file download speeds as well as Speedtest.net, I get as good or better WiFi than I did on my iPad 1, and I'm on par with two laptops, one Sammy one HP. My router is in the basement and I can be the next floor up and on the other side of the house and my signal is as good as the iPad. I can also throw in my Epic 4G Touch as well. The Prime is just as good as these devices when it comes to WiFi. Netflix streams beautifully too.

I will be testing one next week, so hope to see the same results :)

Same here with my EVO 4G and Prime

What is a BT GPS receiver? It transmit GPS data via BT?

Yes. You will see several at Amazon. Can't remember the name but one of them is loved by pilots. They use it mainly with their ipads. Thinking of getting one myself. But not sure because my droidx is so good.

Looks like Asus needs to..

A. Ship one of these out to all current owners
B. Start including one in each of the Primes coming off the line
or
C. Reduce the price of the prime accordingly

:D

I know this could be a whole new thread but if it were up to me, I would rather have the dock at a discounted price ($150 down to $100), free screen protectors or a free carrying case.

Keep the Prime $ at the same

But I do agree, if they publicly marketed the tablet as a working GPS unit and then take that off, then the consumers should get something at a discounted price

I didn't get mine until Dec. 30, which doesn't seem to be in the first batch. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but mine really has been troublefree so far. I hope you find good results too. I can't really vouch for the GPS though, since I don't use it and probably never will on the tablet.

The more I think about this its more apparent that ASUS was probably well aware of the issue before release. The eariler rumors of delays due to WiFi come to mind. I just watched a video of a side by side WiFi test of the Transformer and the Transformer Prime. The Prime did not do so well.

Never underestimate the stupidity/carelessness of a marketing department!!!
