Help Gps issues

I have my droid X on the Metro PCS network. The GPS does not seem to work properly (no satellites tracked), but when I remove the back battery cover, it would start to pickup satellites. Once I put the cover back on it would not track satellites. Is there a fix for this besides leaving the cover off?

Are you running the stock OS? I would have similar issues with mine stock, but have had absolutely no issues with GPS since I've switched to custom ROMS.

I think some have had luck by tweaking a brass colored pin that is right next to the battery pull tab. I didn't have luck with that as my GPS was flaky regardless of battery cover on or off.
