gps live updating

is there an app (or anything) that is able to give me live GPS updates?

to be more clear,
- my friend is out on a race or adventure
- i'm at home and want to see where they are
- the app i use gives me live updates
- if it went to google maps, even better

is this possible?

I was about to ask that. I won't hijack your topic so I will start a new one.

To answer your question, the one I know of and it's very simple so don't expect anything fancy is GPS Tracker by Instamapper.

Once you set it up, you can provide the link to your friends so they will always know where you are at. Only problem is, you can only check where you are at on the computer.

It's also good for businesses who wants a cheap alternative to track their vehicles. You can get a cheap cell phone from Boost Mobile and install it on the phone and leave it in the vehicle so they can track their vehicles on the computer.

is this possible?

Glympse (max 4 hours of tracking), Runkeeper Pro(havent tried must be pro version), Live Tracker (kinda flimsy), Family GPS Tracker(fastest update freq is 15 min).
Glympse is really good, just have to re-send tracking every 4 hours.

Can't you do this with Google Latitude?

For the most part, but the refresh times are not consistent, at least that has been my experience.

I too use Glympse so my family can have real time tracking as I make my 6 hour drive back home from where I live.

I think Glympse can post to Facebook and Twitter, not sure if that would be useful to you or not...

I just re-install GPS Tracker by Instamapper, I found out that you can now track them by smartphone now so you don't need the computer.
