GPS Location App Sticks

I use a Motorola G (3rd generation) to run a gps app called Golf Shot Tracker. I have been using the app succesfully for three years using a Galaxy S2. When switching to the Motorola G3 the gps location app gets stuck regularly. It is not always possible to reset it. Any suggestions

Have checked with the Developer to see if they support Lollipop and/or Marshmallow?

I have not heard of GPS issues with the Moto G 2015.

I have downloaded GPS Status and Toolbar this seems to have solved the problem to a certain extent. At least now when the Golf App Locks I can see that the handset appears not to to be receiving signal. It could indicate an antenna problem. The overall experience was however very much better today.
