Hi all,

Just curious to know if some GPS units within phones perform better than others or are they pretty much the same? Im looking into the best navigation apps and keep hearing about phones dropping out at crucial moments.

The GPS units within phones are mostly the same, but are pretty weak since they are smaller and use less power than the GPS antennae on dedicated devices. Mostly, if using a cellphone one should rely more on A-GPS. If you use the GPS chip only, expect to drop out of signal if you pass through a tunnel or a particularly covered underpass/under a bridge.
