Help GPS problem - help!

Lurker
Hi guys,

I've started having problems with the GPS on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (not rooted), as it thinks I'm in Houjie in China, but I'm actually in England. Does anyone know how to fix this? To clarify, this only happens when I'm at home - when I'm out and about it find the correct location.

Thanks, Leeski

In building it takes considerably longer to get GPS signal and sometimes cannot get it at all so the phone will not know where you are and will default to the default location of your phone. If you bought the phone from HK or China it will default to that.

IS there any way to change this default location? Although I doubt that this is the case, as it is a phone sent to me by o2, so why it would have been bought in China I don't know...

Maybe try GPS Status, menu, manage a-GPS, reset, then repeat that path and then download. No guarantees, but it isn't harmful either.

I tried that, no luck unfortunately.

What program are you using leeski? I use Memory-Map GB ordnance survey maps for when I'm out walking. I had a problem that it would suddenly decide I was in the middle of Africa. It would tell me after a 3 mile walk that I had actually done hundreds of thousands of miles. I cured the problem by uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. For some reason I had to do this twice.

Make sure that you sit there in one location long enough for it to get the location right and then it should remember that.
