Help GPS Problems since 2.3.3 upgrade

Has anyone else noticed GPS issues since the 2.3.3 upgrade? On 2.1, the GPS on my shine plus was solid and worked great, but now the GPS lock is very sporadic, if it connects at all.

haven't tried gps on it yet, but try installing the free version of GPS Status and Toolbox from the market. not only does it show the status of your gps when you run it, but it downloads the agps data for your locale upon first run which basically localizes your gps to run as well as possible where you live.

that's an oversimplification but just do it and see if it helps. once you get a solid lock using gps status (lock is when satelite signal levels turn green, yellow means not enough signal(s) for a lock yet), then you will probalby find everything is much faster to lock in other gps apps like google nav.

this is just general android stuff though not specific to this firmware - but if hte firmware is generic and not localized to where you live then this could quite possibly help.

gps status and toolbox is an amazing product. only ahve to run it until ti works though - then you can get rid of it if you want to.

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually use GPS Test, think it does the same thing with the AGPS refresh.

One other symptom i forgot to mention was that the GPS icon in the status bar would disapear once a lock was established, wasn't sure if this was a function of gingerbread or not. Rebooted phone and went outside, got a lock in about 20secs that held, but accuracy no better than approx. 80ft (on 2.1 i would get sub 10ft locks constantly).

I just actually just got in from trying my GPS on a fresh install of 2.3.3 not even 1/2 ago on Google Navigation trying to replicate a screen blackout problem Ive been having. May have got it may have not. I was close to home and pulled the battery too fast to see how fast it would RECONNECT. I will agree with you that the GPS is extremely jumpy/laggy on 2.3.3. I also cant seem to get the map to rotate/orientate anymore and the first time I tried to connect I walked almost 4-5 streets before the phone found a GPS.

LOL, I have posted so much about the grief that I have been having with the LG 2.3.3 update. But the one good thing after installing 2.3.3 is that my GPS went from very slow and spotty to great. Under 2.1, it would take me about 5 minutes to never to get a GPS lock. Now, it only takes a few seconds. I use GPS Status. And I use GPS for Mapdroyd and RunKeeper.

so i got a chance to do some more testing today. what i have found is that if i use wifi at all the gps stops working, so as long as i stay with using mobile networks only the gps works great.

other than this issue, my only other problem with 2.3.3 would be some of the apps on the market showing as incompatible.

Seems like the Wifi settings are causing alot of grief. There isn't much I can do to solve these though. I know doing a factory reset and not using the old data helps... But that might not solve this particular issue.

As for incompatible apps, that's because of the new market. There's a way to use solely the old market which doesn't have this issue though. I could write up a procedure on rolling back to that version.
