GPS sensitivity

Bought the Galaxy S3 Mini because I was fed up with my old HTC Wildfire S running out of memory. New phone is faster & clearer & has bags of memory! However, I run Allsport GPS to map my walks. It worked fine on the old HTC, but the Galaxy S3 Mini has great difficulty finding the GPS satellites. Once it has found the position, if it loses it, it takes an age to find it again. I can run the app with my HTC in my coat pocket. If I put the Mini in my pocket, it loses all the satellite data & won't even start the walk. It also seems much less able to load the maps. (This is 2G & not very strong signals). The HTC seems to load the maps better too. Unless someone can suggest a solution to the Mini satellite reception, I will have to use the HTC for my walks! Anyone got any ideas, please?

my s3 mini locks on to satellite fairly quickly and iv never lost the signal even when indoors so it could possibly be a fault with your phone. I'd take it back and see if they will do a swap out

Also, try to update the phone to the latest software version. After this (or when the latest updates are installed) do a factory reset to see if this makes a difference. Sometimes the initial setup does not configure the location service properly.

Hi, I have a same problem with my new Samsung Galaxy S3 mini and Sports Tracker. And many other reporting this problem. Sports Tracker works fine with my ZTE Blade. The first I thought that the fault is in bad GPS module in my phone. But the GPS work fine with Navi software. I realized that in Navi software the phone screen is always on and with Sport Tracker go in stanby. And when the screen go in standby the gps stop working. And when the signal is repeatedly interrupted then for a long time does not want to connect. Solution is that you in Sport Tracker settigs set Screen backlight to Always on. Now the problem is that the random clicking Stop suspended yor current workout. I do not know if fault is with Jelly Bean ROM or with Samsung Galaxy phones. Later I again tested navi app IGO Primo and if I turned off the screen GPS also go on off. Now I testing this app Tracker Booster: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kaukovuo.android.trackerbooster
