GPS system specs

Internet data plans here in Mexico aren't cheap, and I'm searching for an android phone with GPS.
I have used dedicated GPS devices that have a special antenna and the service its completely free.
What about android phones?
Do they need to have a special antenna to work without internet?
If not, how do GPS work on them? Using the 3G/4G networks? Is it accurate?
If yes, how can I know which ones have it? (I don't see them at the specs)

the GPS will be very limited with out a data/ cell network connection. All cell phones that have GPS are either assisted GPS or they have a very basic GPS chip/antenna. You would also need to download maps to the phone so you can use the GPS with out a 3g connection, as they all use the cell network to get maps from teh servers based on your current location.
The GPS can be ok for accuracy, but I would NEVER trust it over a stand alone GPS device.
