GPS toggle widgets

I'm looking for a simple GPS toggle widget that actually turns on the GPS and DOESN'T take me to the system Location Access settings page. That's an extra step. I've tried about 4 and uninstalled them because they do this. They toggle for Blue Tooth in one step. They toggle for data in one step. They toggle wifi in one step. But they all take me to the settings page for GPS. I KNOW I've had a widget that was one step before but can't find it. Is this a legal thing where I must do this extra step to opt in? It's infuriating.

Popwer Toggles (free) in the Play Store will add an action bar at the top of your notifications when you slide down.

There you can put, wifi, gps, bluetooth, mobile data, sync, flashlight, apps, contacts, etc.

The GPS, bluetooth, mobile data and wifi are all toggles.

Thats one of the apps I just tried. I created my widget choices and put the Power bar on the home page, all my toggles work right from the widget, but when I click GPS, it takes me to the Access Settings page where I still have to check the box for GPS. This action sort of defeats the purpose of the widget no??

Sorry. I never used the widget on the homescreen. I only used it in the notification widget that is embedded in the notification pane - where it is a toggle.

I don't think that's possible without root anymore. Android enhanced the security of the GPS so that you can't be tracked unknowingly

OK, I just tried that option too. Still takes me to the Location access screen in system settings...

what am I missing?

Works flawlessly for me as a toggle. What version of Android are you on?

Very similar to Power Toggles is Settings Extended (also free in the Play Store). 90% sure it does toggle on GPS

I tried Elixr widgets. When I chose the GPS toggle, it gave me a popup saying this will only go to the access system settings page. In order for me to have it toggle correctly, I need to be rooted. Must be that way for all the widgets?

I'm running stock JB 4.1.2. I seem to remember Gingerbread having a system toggle widget that worked like I want, but JB doesn't seem to have this that I can find.

Yup, as noted above security was enhanced in Android 4.x to prevent GPS being activated without user consent.

OK, that's all I needed to know. I'm not crazy, there is no 'pure' toggle for GPS unless you're rooted.
