Are there any GPS tracking apps that could replace a vehicle tracking GPS like you would use in a commercial fleet? I need constant speed & location data as well as history. I'm thinking the battery usage for constant GPS location would make this not feasable.

Yep, with gps tracking and sending that information constantly over 3g, you would get maybe an hour or two out of any phone out now.

The only app i can recommend for this is instamapper. create a free account at instamapper.com and download the app "GPS Tracker" (picture of a satelite)

Works okay on HTC Desire, UK. My brother tracked my round my hometown. If you do try it you'll need to set the send data time at 5s until first data sent then change it to 121s - it WILL tell you that GPS fix is taking longer than normal on start up. Make sure you are outside for it to be quick.

I use GPS Essentials: GPS Essentials - Android app on AppBrain I think it does what you want although I don't use the tracking.... but you need it plugged into a charger if you use it very long.
